Hunting

Pretty much anyone that knows me knows that I love to hunt. I hunt deer and turkey whenever I get the chance. Below you will find a few pictures of my successes. Generally, I haven't taken too many pictures, but I will hopefully take some more this season.

In case you're wondering, my wife never complains about me hunting unless there isn't any meat in the freezer, then she gets a little irritable and tells me to go hunting. Am I lucky or what?

Ethics:

There's only one way to hunt, the right way.

  • Turkey hunting is an up close and personal sport. Therefore, although it is legal in the state of Virginia to hunt turkeys with a rifle, I do not recommend it. The challenge in turkey hunting is calling the turkey in and avoiding his acute vision. Anyone can shoot a turkey with a high power rifle from 200 plus yards away, but it takes a real hunter to get within 30 yards of his prey.
  • It is more important to be safe than successful.
  • A bullet can't be called back. Unless you know where it's going, don't pull the trigger.
  • Alcohol and guns do not mix.
  • If you are not going to eat it or give it to someone who will eat it, don't shoot it. The thrill is in the calling and getting close. You can have as much fun with a camera as a gun.
  • Treat all land as if it were your own. If you want to be invited back, the land owners have to be kept happy.
